Used in a church Bible study.Great study with different women teachers and 5 different books.

Not my most favorite Bible study I've ever done. While it's a good idea to have so many amazing women Bible teachers do a study together, I was a little irritated by the fact that they literally just took studies that have already been done in the past and shoved them into one study book. I had already done over half of the studies in this book before we chose and started the study, so I was already disengaged by that, then they kind of throw you into the middle of each study every week and you spend a little bit of time trying to figure out where you're catching up in the story, and I really didn't like how they never wove the stories together as a whole. If you are a beginner this would be a good study to start with, especially when it comes to studying people of the Old Testament, which can be overwhelming. However, if you are a more seasoned Christian, I would pass on this one.

This Bible Study has been a very engaging one and one of the best ones I have completed. All different types of speakers with different personalities and styles of teaching.

It seemed like a good idea...all these amazing teachers covering some of the greatest Old Testament hero’s.It fell so short when they just grabbed random lessons from these teacher’s studies and threw them all in one book. My Bible study group would watch the videos one week and complete the studies the next. Only problem- the studies come into the hero’s stories midway and then the study ends before we know how the story ends. This book was put together as an afterthought- not a true study of any hero.

He is a good story-teller, and the book captured my interest at the beginning and held it throughout. While it never really reaches the "can't put it down milestone", I did end up reading it in a couple days.* The character of Acosta is quite interesting. He is quite the character, and capable of using violence, cunning, and just brute force to grow his business. And while is trip up the ladder of "success" is quite remarkable, his later fall is just as dramatic and well told.* Poppa captures a reasonable mix of the hard side of Acosta (drugs, violence), and the soft side (literally getting his hands dirty helping to finance and build schools). He ends up with a reasonably complete picture of a somewhat simple, but complicated man.=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===* Poppa is given to throwing around accusations without much proof. For example, he accuses the dominant parties in Mexican politics of unbridled corruption and controlling elections but allowing other party candidates to run simply to chew up the resources of their party and supporters. Interesting accusations, and perhaps even true...but not well supported in the text or references.* Some parts of the book contain too much detail and don't advance the story. There are a number of minor characters who enter and exit the narrative in short order, and don't contribute to the overall narrative.=== Summary ===The book is a great look at a fascinating story, and I enjoyed reading it. While a bit overly detailed in some sections, for the most part the book keeps moving and held my interest throughout. I would recommend it to any "true crime" fans, especially those interested in drug smuggling or in the geographic area of the Texas Big Bend area and the bordering part of Mexico.

Drug Lord is the tale of the rise of king pin Pablo Acosta in Mexico's cut throat drug trade. The author does well to give the reader a sense of the seedy and violent world of drug running with the right mix of action and information.What I got from this book was a look into the machinations of running drugs over the US/Mexico border from the politics and corruption to the risks and money to be made from it. The author has taken time to paint a realistic picture of this world and has not tried to glorify the violence for the sake of a good yarn. Overall a good solid entertaining and informative read.

If you want to understand what is currently going on with the drug cartels on the U.S. Mexican border, read this book.Pablo Acosta is a fascinating character and the book is hard to put down. It describes his personal life, how he got into the business, how the business operated, and how he got out of the business... or was removed from the business, actually more like a hostile takeover.Although it focuses on a drug kingpin in a small Mexican border town, the author does a great job of showing how the Mexican government, judicial police and military are all involved in the top to bottom distribution of weed, cocaine and heroin.Excellent, well written book.

He rose to Kingpin as a Marijuana smuggler in exile, to cocaine smuggler, just to fall a victim of his own power and product. This guy was dangerous, caring and psycho at the same time! I bought this book a fews years ago, read it then lent it to a friend...well you know how that goes...I bought another copy from Amazon last year to re-read and store in my book collection.This is a great book about a Drug Kingpin, the history of Scapegoats, as well as the History of Mexican Smuggling.I would also recommend: Blow _ by Bruce Porter The Accountant's Story _ by Roberto Escobar

This book brings to light how serious the drug problem is. I couldn’t believe how widespread it is. It opened my eyes about how widespread it is.

This was a very interesting book. It was well written and frankly described some incredible true events. The Mexican drug trade is examined from the inside from the earliest days up to the present. The complicity of the Mexican police, Army and politicians up to AND INCLUDING the president is frightening. Buy this book. It is as exciting as any fictional thriller, but it's all true.

Good and interesting read. But I can't believe a profesional write would misspelled Colombia for Columbia...

Love the series. I just wish the front cover wasn't all bent up when it arrived. Pretty dissapointing.

This remains one of my favorite manga for the beautiful drawings and the gentle storyline. I found I was really invested in the characters and wanted to see them succeed. With this 12th volume, Kasha returns as the main antagonist and I couldn't be happier; he is a complex character and intimately tied with Aoi.Story: The gun that Kasha shot Himari with doesn't kill - but it does separate the soul from the body. As Himari wanders the spirit world, Kasha uses this opportunity to spirit Aoi away. Himari realizes she needs to know Aoi's relationship with Kasha in order to understand why he is tormenting them.As with all the volumes, it starts from a cliffhanger and ends with a cliff hanger. Typically, each volume is a complete arc and it really shows the storytelling mastery of mangaka Shouoto that it is so smoothly planned out. Of course, I am happy to see Kasha's storyline continued but also that many characters have returned to help Himari for this particular arc.We are slowly getting closer and closer to understanding Aoi's complex relationship with the other Ayakashi as well as Himari eventually finding the way to release Aoi from his geas to the Momochi House. I absoulaty love Demon Prince of Momochi House I’m so glad and excited I ordered book 13 can’t wait to read it! For anyone who hasn’t heard and or read this amazing series I highly recommend you do it’s so good! Now I have all 13!! Hope more come out soon! I would love if this series was turned into an actual anime show that would be great!!

I just received my “new” copy of Vascular Nursing Scope & Standards of Care. I am very disappointed. The book was greasy on both covers and something was wet in package and as a result the pages are wet and discolored. I cannot believe I spent $30+ dollars on this.

I give this book a 4.5. Love the author's style of writing, love the character development. This book flowed so well I read it all in one setting, going to pay for it in the morning. My only minor complaint, and the reason for the .5, is that there were grammatical errors sprinkled here and there. Luckily, the story line more than made up for it! Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I loved the story line this would make a great movie...Troys and Aria's characters were so believable...even when they broke up. The grammatical errors were annoying but the characters saved you.....The sister girlfriends were on point but not over done like some books they were real down to earth friends that you make you think about your friends and everyone should have friends like these. Also it was nice that the back stories did not over shadow the main story Ms. Ashley is a must read!!!! Happy reading

Well written and enjoyable story. Tory is such a sweetheart. He is one of my favorite characters of AshleyNicole. Aria did grate on my nerves at times. Looking forward to the next installment. I hope there is more to come for their story.

I got into the characters and enjoyed everyone's interaction . Relationships can be trick to maneuver throughout that compromise and patiences come in to play. The heroine had a few issues which had to be handled. Her support gave sage advice and she listened (most don't). I liked the book wished it was longer. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Oh yeah! I love this! I was not ready! I love the character development of Tory and Aria. I really enjoyed it. Very very good read! Kudos AshleyNicole!

I recently discovered this author a few months back and have read all of her books. I applaud the way she develops each character, the realness of the situations they experience and how each are willing to be vulnerable to go to the next step. Having said that, Aria got on my nerves!!! Her stubbornness and deep need to always be in control could have cost her a lot. Hopefully she will get it together in the other books since this ending left things with Tory a bit unfinished.

This was a good book but had a few areas of challenged execution. As another reviewer pointed out, Tory was a tad bit too perfect. It would have been nice if at least one flaw was identified but he was the total antithesis of someone his age and occupation. However, I did like him. One aspect about him that I could have absolutely done without was the thumb-sucking. Not sure why the author thought that was necessary but that was difficult hump for me to get over and take serious. I was turned off reading it, so I can't imagine or relate to the heroin thinking it was so cute. Finally, my only other issue was the loose end with her mother's move (if in fact she did move) and the rushed ending. Why go through the climatic break-up to have the make-up as anti-climatic as it was--it just didn't feel organic. Oh, one other thing--I think the assault details took a sharp turn for sadistic with the long nails/mutilation details--that too felt unnecessary. The trauma of the assualt in and of itself was sufficient for the reader to understand Aria's issues but added layer of the scarring and damage due to Khalid's nails was a bit over the top to me and again, unnecessary.

It's so important that people get to the root of their problem. People like to judge situations from the surface. Not to give too much a way, this was a good read. It had lots of grammatical errors though.
